This year's workshop in Guam
We host the field training workshop Guam on coral reproduction and reef restoration with local co-organizers, namely Dr. Laurie Raymundo and Dave Burdick (both University of Guam) and Mike McCue (Underwater World Guam). International co-organizers are Dr. James Guest (Nanyang Technological University, University of New South Wales), Mitch Carl (Henry Doorly Zoo), and Jamie Craggs (Horniman Museum and Gardens). Famous SECORE photographer Paul Selvaggio (Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium) will document the event.

Thanks to the dedicated work of all partners, organizers and participants, the initial workshop in 2013 was a great success. The 2014 program does not only include approved SECORE methods to produce large number of coral offspring for reef restoration, but gives also insights into Guam's coral reef ecology, coral diseases and addresses current trends, such as the recent coral bleaching event. Lab work and lectures are as important as it is exciting to dive within Guam's reefs. All people of Guam are invited to join our public evening lectures and visit us at the UOG Marine Lab to witness with us corals spawn in aquaria. Everybody is welcome to follow us at our daily web blog written by Claartje Visser!
